SA1133  THE SONG OF SONGS AND ARCHAEOLOGY (A.Y. 2025/2026)

Description

This graduate seminar brings together scholars and students from various universities, offering a forum of study and debate on topics relating to archaeology and the Bible. Each year, the international team proposes a monographic topic, which for 2025 will be the Song of Songs.

Objectives

The course aims to engage the students in interdisciplinary debate with scholars and students from partner universities, proving a practical forum to acquire critical skills on both biblical and archaeological material.

Method

The seminar consists of ten two-hour sessions that are held online, with the partner institutions. The first half consists of presentations by invited academics, the second is dedicated to discussion in small groups.

Evaluation

Assessment will consist of a chapter review from the suggested readings (40%), and a short paper on a topic agreed with the lecturer (60%).
