Description

An exegetical study of the Johannine Passion Narrative: John 18 – 19. Using primarily a narrative-critical approach, we will enrich our synchronic study of this section of John’s Gospel with the help of historical critical methods and intertextual analysis.

Objectives

To introduce students to the literary study of John’s Gospel through the lenses of narrative criticism, enriched with valuable insights gained from diachronic and canonical approaches.

Modality

Class lectures and guided discussions.

Evaluation

Students will be evaluated on the basis of an exegetical essay (10-15 pages) on a topic related to the content of the course and approved by the instructor. The paper can be written in English, Italian or French.
