SL2028  STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT (A.Y. 2025/2026)

Objectives: This course develops the mindset and capabilities required to lead strategic initiatives in complex, dynamic environments. Students will learn to approach strategy as a leadership responsibility that demands vision, critical thinking, and ethical discernment. Emphasis is placed on understanding organizations as integrated systems, aligning internal capacities with external realities, and making choices consistent with mission and long-term impact.

Drawing from both business and ecclesial contexts, the course explores how strategic frameworks can be applied adaptively rather than prescriptively. Through analysis, discussion, and case-based learning, students will cultivate discerning insight—essential for interpreting the “signs of the times” ( Gaudium et Spes , §4) and responding with integrity and purpose. The course ultimately prepares students to shape strategy in ways that express and advance the common good.

Contents: The course covers core elements of strategic management, including environmental analysis, resource assessment, competitive positioning, and mission alignment. Students will engage with key frameworks for strategy formulation and implementation, and explore how these apply in both business and ecclesial settings.

Emphasis is placed on integrating functional strategies, evaluating strategic options, and responding to complex organizational challenges with clarity and purpose. Case studies and real-world scenarios provide a basis for applying strategic thinking in practice.

Methodology: The course employs a case-based, discussion-led approach to develop strategic insight from a senior leadership perspective. Through simulations, group work, and critical reflection, students learn to apply strategic concepts in complex, real-world settings. Emphasis is placed on collaborative learning, ethical awareness, and mission-driven leadership.

Means of Evaluation: Student performance will be assessed through active participation, quality of contribution to group work, and engagement with case discussions. Additional evaluation may include short written reflections or applied strategy exercises. Consistent attendance and thoughtful preparation are essential, reflecting the collaborative and leadership-oriented nature of the course.
