The Rector of the Pontifical Gregorian University announced in a letter on 2 May 2012, the creation of the Ignatian Spirituality Centre within the Institute of Spirituality. This Centre began its activities at the beginning of the Academic Year 2012-2013 under the direction of Fr. Mark Rotsaert s.j., director of the Centre until autumn 2017, and continued with Fr. James E. Grummer until the academic year 2023.

The current director is Fr. Rolphy Pinto s.j.
