- Scuola Sinderesi - Diploma in pratica etica: Sfide sociali e contemporanee

After three years focusing on the challenges to democracy in Europe, the Sinderesi School is once again turning its attention to the African continent: “Ex Africa semper aliquid novi”—as Pliny the Elder wrote. Our intention is precisely to discover how many of the global issues that today shape the future of humanity are played out, for better or for worse, on African soil.
Continuing an analysis already begun in previous editions of our more-than-fortnightly series—and compiled in the two volumes *Africa: the Unknown, Resources and Gains* and *The Metamorphosis of West Africa. Not Only Migration”—published in 2021 and 2025, respectively—we will focus over the next three years on examining the three major regions not yet covered: East Africa, “Black” Africa, and Southern Africa.
This year, 2026–2027, we will focus on East Africa, viewing it as a hidden mirror of paths to hope amid terrible conflicts and humanitarian crises.
With the help of qualified experts, through lectures and study group brainstorming sessions, students will be guided toward an in-depth analysis of the various factors at play: historical, geopolitical, sociological, economic-financial, and religious-cultural. Also significant will be the workshops on the work of the Churches in the Horn of Africa and on the paths of interreligious fraternity sparked by the migration phenomenon itself.
The aforementioned book, The Metamorphosis of West Africa: Not Only Migration, published by Rubbettino, is now available for purchase. Also in the process of being published are the proceedings from the 2025/2026 edition, titled Echoes of the Lebanon Crisis: Conflict or Coexistence?
Admission requires a high school diploma valid for university admission.
Bearing in mind that the Sinderesi course is mainly aimed at young people up to the age of 35, a contribution of €120.00 is required. For more information please visit the Academic Fees page
At the end of the pathway agreed with the School Coordinator, the Centre's students, having met the requirements, may obtain a Diploma (30 ECTS over a five-year period) or a Certificate (for less than 30 ECTS or for 6 ECTS for each individual course).
