XP203V  ABUSE. DEFINITIONS AND TYPES (A.Y. 2025/2026)

Objectives: The course will introduce the students to the common types of abuse and maltreatment, and grooming, offering an understanding of the systemic elements of abuse. It will also give them the chance to reflect on the risk and protective factors in varied contexts.

Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, the students will be able to recognize the various forms of maltreatment and to identify the risk and the protective factors of abuse in a culturally-sensitive manner.

Content : Various forms of abuse and their effects; grooming; impact of abuse on the lives of the victims; specific dangers of cyber abuse.

Methodology: The course will combine lectures, readings, and seminar discussion and will focus on a range of selected texts.

Means of evaluation : Evaluation will be based on class participation and written papers.
