SL2029  FUNDRAISING (A.Y. 2026/2027)

Objectives: This course introduces students to fundraising and pro‧posal writing for social and pastoral ministries. Students will learn what the different types of fundraising are, and will then become familiar with grant-making entities like foundations and Catholic agencies. They will learn who the key Catholic donor agencies in Europe and the US are; how they ope‧rate, evolve, and what they fund; and how to start and nurture successful partnerships with them. As fundraising from grant-makers is largely based on project proposals, the course will furthermore teach students how to put together successful funding applications and reports to sustain the mini‧stries of their communities.

Learning Outcomes: Students are not limited to notional learning, but are accompanied in a path of acquiring appropriate skills.

Contents: Introduction to fundraising for ministry; Catholic funding agencies and foundations for social and pastoral projects; the concept of the project cycle; results-focused planning methodology; writing effective pro‧posals and reports; building successful partnerships with funding agencies.

Methodology : Classroom teaching, group discussions and practical exercises, case studies, and individual work.

Means of Evaluation : Active and creative participation in the course and a final exam or a group project.
