Objectives: This course is designed to equip current and future managers with the intellectual framework and practical skills needed to integrate ethical reflection and responsible leadership into organizational life. Grounded in the rich tradition of Catholic Social Teaching (CST), the course enables participants to approach managerial decision-making with a strong sense of purpose, social responsibility, and commitment to the common good. By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the core principles of CST, apply them to contemporary business challenges, and develop management practices that balance organizational effectiveness with ethical integrity and social impact.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze managerial situations through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching, apply its principles to real-world organizational contexts, evaluate business decisions in terms of ethical and social responsibility, and integrate values such as human dignity, solidarity, and stewardship into leadership practice. Students will acquire both theoretical understanding and practical competencies to act as responsible leaders in complex environments.

Contents: The course covers the following topics: introduction to Catholic Social Teaching and its historical development; exploration of key principles such as human dignity, the common good, solidarity, subsidiarity, and stewardship; the firm as a moral community, including purpose, mission, and stakeholder responsibility; leadership and financial decision-making as moral practices, focusing on prudence and ethical judgment; and contemporary challenges such as sustainability, inequality, digital transformation, and globalization from a CST perspective.

Methodology: Class activities combine lectures (including formal, lecture-style sessions), case studies, ethical dilemmas, and group discussions. This approach is designed to foster both rigorous conceptual understanding and applied reflection, enabling students to connect theoretical principles of Catholic Social Teaching with practical managerial challenges.

Means of Evaluation: Assessment will be based on three complementary components. First, students will complete a final written examination (50%) designed to evaluate their understanding of the key concepts and their ability to apply Catholic Social Teaching to managerial contexts. Second, each student will produce, on a daily basis, a brief headline summarizing the core insight or central idea of each session (30%), fostering synthesis and reflective learning. Third, active participation in class discussions (20%) will be taken into account. The final grade will result from the combined evaluation of these three elements.
