Objectives: To provide students with a theologically coherent and contextually relevant understanding of Christian mission. The course seeks to deepen fidelity to the Christian faith while engaging new horizons that renew the meaning of mission. Particular attention will be given to theological reflection within contemporary religious pluralism, which characterizes most cultural and missionary contexts.

Learning Outcomes: Students will acquire an introductory as well an advanced understanding of the theology of mission and religions.

Contents: The course examines “mission” in its Christian theological sense. Affirming that “the Church is missionary by its nature” (AG 2) and participates in the Missio Dei through Christ and the Holy Spirit, it establishes a doctrinal foundation for missionary activity. Contemporary Christological, Pneumatological, Ecclesiological, and Eschatological perspectives will critically re-evaluate traditional assumptions in dialogue with present contexts. Key contributions from theologians of religions will be studied to address issues arising from the Church’s engagement with other faiths.

Methodology: Lectures supported by presentations, with structured discussion and critical reflection.

Assessment: Oral examination.
