On 30 September and 1 October, the second annual meeting of the Comparative Theology of Religions Group (CTRG) will take place at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Palazzo Frascara, F007). The meeting will include three internal group sessions and a public session, to be held on 1 October from 17:00 to 19:00.
The CTRG is an international group of scholars from the Jewish, Christian and Islamic traditions, established with the aim of reflecting together on issues concerning the theology of religious pluralism, through the approach of comparative theology. The group aims to articulate the meaning of religious otherness within their respective theologies, promoting mutual learning between the various traditions.
The first step in this ambitious project is to develop a theology of the partners' faiths: this involves a Christian theology of Judaism and Islam, an Islamic theology of Judaism and Christianity, and a Jewish theology of Christianity and Islam. In this way, we intend to seriously consider the mutual impact of the theologies of ‘other’ religions.
The group is committed to producing and discussing texts on these issues, and to organising seminars and conferences. The CTRG is supported and promoted by the Gregorian Centre for Interreligious Studies, the International Center for Comparative Theology and Social Issues at the University of Bonn, and the John Paul II Center for Interreligious Dialogue.
