In a letter written on May 2, 2012, the Rector of the Pontifical Gregorian University, announced the creation of an Ignatian Spirituality Centre within the Institute of Spirituality. The Centre starts its activity in the 2012-2013 Academic Year, under the direction of Fr. Mark Rotsaert s.j, former director of the Center until fall 2017, then continued with Fr. James E. Grummer in the Academic Year 2017-2018.
The mission of the Centre is to promote Ignatian Spirituality in the three missions of the Gregorian University. The Centre has been organising Formation Programs on Spiritual Accompaniment for over eleven years.During the course of the academic year the Centre offers cycle of conferences, round tables, workshops, etc., on different themes of Ignatian Spirituality, adopting an inclusive approach and not just a strictly academic one.
The Centre collaborates with other Academic Units and Centres of Spirituality.
