“The Government of Colombian will hold an academic event at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, with the aim of presenting the position of the Latin American Church regarding multilateral discussions on biodiversity and climate change, focused on the notion of just transitions. This notion refers to the fact that Latin American countries face a double challenge: first, advancing environmental action, in some cases sacrificing socioeconomic development, and second, addressing the inequalities that result from the disproportionate effects of the triple crisis (climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution), which not only involve physical effects but also entail the transformation of their economic models resulting from these effects.”
