- Storie di Esilio Conversazioni a partire dal libro "La casa sul Nilo"
In the centuries-old Jewish narrative, Egypt is a place of slavery from which to flee, but also a place of refuge—as it was for the family of the newborn Jesus. In this session, we will first discuss this from the perspective of the biblical exile and its reception in Jewish tradition, with Prof. Silvano Facioni. Then, with writer Denise Pardo, author of the novel “La casa sul Nilo” we will focus on another exile: that of the Jews from Nasser’s Egypt. The author, who will be in conversation with Sergio Barbanti, has reworked her personal story, bringing to life the atmosphere of Cairo as a city of coexistence and harmony, up until that forced move to Italy—which was incomprehensible to a young girl—and all that followed.
