- "Smaschilizzare" e Includere nella Chiesa
Viewing women as the invisible protagonists of history and human contexts (as the title of this entire series of lectures suggests) is almost taken for granted in church contexts. The Church, in fact, like all social entities over the last few millennia, has been severely threatened by patriarchal structures and has developed ideologies designed to maintain the imbalance of power and life opportunities between women and men, linking these ideologies to the preaching of the Gospel and ecclesial practice, and thereby ensuring that discriminatory practices could be traced back to nothing less than the will of God. Today we have hermeneutical tools capable of declaring all those interpretations of the faith that are disadvantageous or discriminatory towards women to be contrary to God’s will and anti-evangelical. Having shown what these tools are and how they work, we might ask ourselves what consequences this would have for preaching, rituals and church practices, if we were ever to take seriously the fact that the Gospel does not authorise any inequality, imbalance or hierarchy between the sexes.
