On Monday, June 16, Prof. Olivier Roy will deliver a lecture on “Religion, Global Politics and the Crisis of Culture.” Prof. Roy is a well-known French political scientist and orientalist, specializing in studies on contemporary Islam, jihadism and the relationship between religion and politics. He has published numerous articles and books on secularization and Islam, including Global Islam (2004) and The Crisis of Culture (2024). Roy was research director at CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique) and holds the chair at RSCAS (Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies) at the European University Institute in Florence. Also participating in the talk will be Prof. Michael Driessen, professor and director of the MA program in International Affairs at John Cabot University. The talk is part of a series of seminars, public events and workshops in the 2025 edition of the Rome Summer Seminars on Religion and Global Politics.
