- Politica e religione in Brasile nel pontificato di Pio XII
On Thursday 23 April, in Room F007 at 5 pm, the fifth session of the annual series of the permanent seminar on the History of the Papacy will take place. On this occasion, Jair Santos of the École française de Rome will give a lecture entitled “Politics and Religion in Brazil during the Pontificate of Pius XII”. The scholar will address the theme of relations between the State and the Church in Brazil from a specific perspective: that of papal diplomacy. Through the analysis of Vatican documents, he will examine in depth the main dossiers concerning the Brazilian political and religious situation that involved the Holy See during the pontificate of Pius XII (1939–1958). The aim of his lecture will be to place the history of Brazilian Catholicism within the broader context of papal diplomacy in the post-war period.
