Perdoniamo e chiediamo perdono

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Message of Reconciliation that Polish bishops wrote to German bishops, which ended with the historic phrase ‘We forgive and ask for forgiveness,’ the Embassies of Poland and Germany to the Holy See are organising a conference in the Aula Magna of the Pontifical Gregorian University on 9 December 2025. The event focuses on the celebration of an important sign of reconciliation—which in 1965 sought to end centuries of conflict between the two peoples that began with the German invasion and occupation of Poland that triggered the Second World War—accomplished within the halls of the Second Vatican Council, which was coming to a close in St. Peter's Basilica.
