Papi e imperatori giapponesi: passato, presente e futuro delle relazioni speciali tra Vaticano e Giappone

The event is a conference by Ms. Saho Matsumoto, professor at Nihon University and expert on the role of religion in national and international politics, with extensive knowledge of Vatican diplomacy. “Through my research on the historical documents from 1939-1958 recently opened at the Vatican Apostolic Archives, a special relationship between the Vatican and Japan has emerged. Despite the relatively small number of Catholics in Japan, the Vatican, through the Catholic Church has played an important role in Japan throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Under Pope Leo XIV, the future development of relations between the two may become even more significant”.
