- Mondi in tasca
The Varia Spiritualia page on the GATE platform presents small manuscript booklets that document how the early Jesuits shaped their spiritual identity. These personal volumes, produced in the mid-sixteenth century, included medieval texts, meditations, exercises, and devotional materials. Their use declined as spiritual practices were standardized under Generals Mercuriano and Acquaviva, who promoted a uniform printed corpus for the Society. On 26 November at 5:30 p.m., Mondi in tasca will open—a study day devoted to these manuscripts, accompanied by an exhibition in the Quadriportico. The event will also introduce the seminar on Pierre Favre’s Memoriale.
