On the occasion of the four hundredth anniversary of the death of Jesuit missionary Father Ludovico Bertonio S.J.(Arcevia, 1555 – Lima, 1625), author in the early seventeenth century of the first vocabularies and grammars of the Aymara language, still spoken today in the Andean highlands, the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences, and Roma Tre University, with the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Italy, are organizing the International Seminar “The Forms of the Word: The Languages of Evangelization in the Overseas Missions of the Society of Jesus.” The seminar will be held in hybrid format from November 25 to 27, 2025, at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (Thesis Hall C012).
