La metamorfosi dell'Africa Occidentale

This latest publication from the Sinderesis School brings together a series of articles under the umbrella theme The Metamorphosis of West Africa, a critical issue that we concentrated on during the academic year 2024-2025.

Especially in West Africa, a huge shift in terms of population is occurring that cannot simply be explained in terms of poorly managed migration. Strategies for international cooperation cannot overlook the difficulties caused by: the uprisings in Françafrique, the entry of Russia and China among the major players in the region and the huge burden of inherited public debt.

With the help of suitably qualified experts, this book leads to an in-depth appreciation of the various contributing factors: geopolitical, economic-financial, religious-cultural and logistical, in terms of the aforementioned flows of migrants. We took inspiration from the attention to the human person – his/her value and dignity – that has been a characteristic of Christianity throughout its history, and that resounds in the heartfelt invitations of Leo XIV for a ‘disarming and disarmed peace’, in the very many places torn apart by conflict.
