Questioning life allows us to be surprised by the way words, things, and places reveal the form of God who continues to visit history. 

Theology and philosophy become pilgrims in search of that revealing power that appears as "things themselves never intimately knew they were" (Rainer Maria Rilke). The Conciliar Constitution Gaudium et Spes, after sixty years, continues to ask us to scrutinize "the signs of the times" so as not to miss the opportunity to recognize God's saving action in what happens in a way that characterizes an era.
