Inaugurazione della Mostra "La promessa pellegrina"

On 17 October, the inauguration of the exhibition ‘La promessa pellegrina’ (The Pilgrim's Promise) will take place in the Aula Magna of the Pontifical Gregorian University. The exhibition ‘La promessa pellegrina’ by Colombian artist Juliana Ríos Martínez will be on display at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 18 October to 12 November 2025. The exhibition is part of the commemoration of 190 years of diplomatic relations between Colombia and the Holy See and is promoted by the Embassy of Colombia to the Holy See, as part of the Cultural Diplomacy strategy of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and thanks to the cooperation of the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Knowledge. Juliana Ríos Martínez's work is a manifestation of popular faith, a visual chronicle of hope and a vindication of Colombia's invisible territories. In particular, the artist depicts the procession of the Virgin of Remedies in Riohacha (La Guajira), a celebration that since the 17th century has symbolised the protection, resistance and unity of the Guajiro people. The aim is to promote a dialogue on Wayuu ancestry, colonial traces and the symbolic reparation of territories.

Juliana Ríos Martínez holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá and a specialisation in Animation from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She has attended intensive study programmes in New York and Italy. Her works have been exhibited internationally in numerous countries (including Switzerland, Cuba, Spain, Italy, France and Mexico) and she has received many awards, establishing herself as a sensitive and committed voice in contemporary Colombian art.
