- Il sogno di un restauro
This study day will provide an insight into the depiction of the Temple of Solomon according to the Jesuit architect Juan Bautista Villalpando (1552-1608), who together with the biblical scholar Jerónimo de Prado (1547-1595) produced one of the works that ranks at the top of typographic, literary and artistic production in the modern age.
Thanks to the interventions of specialists Alessandro Zuccari and Luis Rueda Galán coordinated by the director of the Historical Archives P. Martín Morales, it will be possible to deepen, from material sources, the state of research.
The initiative comes to fruition thanks to a donation that made it possible to undertake a process of enhancing the codices APUG 933 and APUG 466, from securing to digitization. These manuscript specimens are among the most important for following the editorial and other events of the work In Ezecheliem Explanationes (1596-1605). An exhibition of the recently restored manuscripts in the Manuscript Diagnostic and Restoration Laboratory and the edition specimens preserved in the WYP Library will be organized for the occasion.
The day is organized under the sponsorship of the La Gregoriana Foundation.
