Il Cuore di Cristo, luogo dʹincontro tra Dottrina e Devozione

Since the time of St. Augustine, the role of the "heart" has been a central theme within academic theology. Throughout the Middle Ages, various schools debated the relative roles of intellect and will in theological reflection. Today, papal documents such as Dilexit Nos and Dilexi Te demonstrate that questions concerning the identity of Jesus Christ continue to serve as a meeting point for debates between strictly doctrinal and devotional approaches to some of our central theological commitments.

Prof. Jeremy Blackwood has an international reputation as an expert on both the thought of Bernard Lonergan, who emphasizes intellectual conversion, and the student of Lonergan, Robert Doran, who emphasizes psychic conversion—will employ both thinkers to explore the vital interplay of doctrine and devotion within these two letters.
