Giornata di Studio. 2° Centenario dell'approvazione pontificia della Compagnia di Maria (1825-2025)

“Je cours parmi le monde” (hymn. 91), the first stanza of a hymn inspired by the famous mystic Jean-Joseph Surin, S.J. (1600–1665), an author dearly loved by St. Louis-Marie de Montfort (1673–1716). From 1684 to 1692, Louis Grignion attended St. Thomas Becket College in Rennes, run by the Jesuit Fathers. Throughout his life as a tireless missionary-preacher (1700–1716), the Fathers of the Society of Jesus were always at his side as friends and confidants, and the influence of S.J. spiritual writers of his time was equally significant. It is from this premise that the study day takes its inspiration and departure.

Fr. Joseph Kozcera, S.J., discerns the influence of the Ignatian Constitutions in the foundational inspiration of the Company of Mary, particularly in the Rules of the Missionary Priests (1713).

Fr. Nicolas Steeves, S.J., proposes an exercise of the imagination—according to the method he developed—in the footsteps of St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Louis-Marie de Montfort.

Fr. Giancarlo Rocca, S.S.P., presents the Italian version of the historical-biographical essay by Bernard Guitteny, S.M.M., titled St. Louis-Marie de Montfort: Apostolic Missionary (1673–1716), with a preface by Prof. Benedetta Papasogli.

A study day that serves as a re-reading of a historical and spiritual heritage—still relevant and widespread today—with special attention to the influence of the Society of Jesus on the Saint of Montfort.
