FROM ADVERSARIES TO FELLOW TRAVELLERS: VISIONS AND METAPHORS FOR THE FUTURE OF JEWISH-CHRISTIAN DIALOGUE

Dear friends of the Cardinal Bea Centre for Judaic Studies, Our commitment to deepening the themes raised by the Conciliar Declaration Nostra Aetate in relation to Jewish-Christian dialogue is enriched by another important event. In addition to the international conference of October 27–29, of which we have already informed you, we are pleased to invite you to the XXIV Brenninkmeijer-Werhahn Annual Lecture, entitled "From Adversaries to Fellow Travellers: Visions and Metaphors for the Future of Jewish-Christian Dialogue." This gathering aims to explore some of the words that have historically shaped relations between Jews and Christians, examining their possible meanings with a view to how, in the future, they might become part of new ways of understanding and encountering one another. The lecture will feature contributions from four internationally renowned scholars who are directly engaged in Jewish-Christian dialogue: Mary C. Boys, Amy-Jill Levine, Philip A. Cunningham, and Yonatan Moss. At the same time, we wish to offer ample space for the active participation of the audience.
