The novel “Dragons: A Roman Requiem” is presented by Rev. Fr. Joseph Carola, S.J., full professor at the Faculty of Theology. “Dragons”  tells the story of the Jesuit fathers at the Roman College in the 19th century, a century marked by revolutions, the fall of the Roman Pontiff’s millennial state, and the dawn of the Kingdom of Italy.  The novel begins with the Jesuits’ exile from the college in the revolutionary year of 1848 and concludes in 1873 with their definitive expulsion from the palace built for them by Pope Gregory XIII, whose coat of arms is adorned with a dragon.
