- Brasile e Santa Sede: 200 anni di relazioni diplomatiche
The Seminar “Brazil and the Holy See: 200 Years of Diplomatic Relations” aims to celebrate the bicentennial of bilateral relations between Brazil and the Holy See, inaugurated on January 23, 1826, when Pope Leo XII received the credentials of the first Brazilian representative to the Vatican, Monsignor Francisco Corrêa Vidigal. Since then, these relations have been continuous and marked by mutual enrichment in the diplomatic, cultural, and religious spheres. The seminar invites reflection on the historical trajectory of this relationship over two centuries, as well as on the valuable archival heritage of the Church, which makes the Vatican a privileged observatory for understanding the history of Brazil and Latin America.
