On the morning of Monday 3 March 2025, the ceremony to unveil the commemorative plaque in honour of Kazimierz Jan Papée (1889-1979), the last ambassador of free Poland, will take place at the entrance to Palazzo Frascara. In fact, this palace was home to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland to the Holy See from 1931 to 1940. Ambassador Papée, who served at the Holy See until 1972, first represented the Polish state and then, under the communist regime, the Polish government in exile in the Vatican State. Despite adversity and thanks to the support of the Supreme Pontiffs, he continued to carry out his diplomatic mission in the Vatican and became a point of reference for Poles who went to Rome during that difficult period.
The plaque was placed in honor of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland to the Holy See, the Pontifical Gregorian University, and the family of Ambassador Papée.
