Jubilee of World Education / The words of Pope Leo

On the afternoon of Monday, October 27, 2025, Holy Mass was celebrated in the Papal Basilica of St. Peter with university students from the Pontifical Universities, presided over by the Holy Father, Leo XIV. At the opening of the solemn Eucharist, the Pope signed the Apostolic Letter "Drawing New Maps of Hope" on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the Conciliar Declaration Gravissimus Educationis.

"We retain a vivid memory of this celebration experienced together, as Pontifical Universities, gathered around the Holy Father, Leo XIV, on the occasion of the opening of the Jubilee of World Education," commented the Rector, Fr. Mark Lewis, SJ. "The Holy Father urged us to cultivate a unified and comprehensive vision, integrating the search for truth into life, and to passionately embrace the task of educating, that is, helping each person to be themselves by developing an autonomous conscience and critical thinking. His words, together with the Apostolic Letter he signed in our presence, will accompany our reflection."

The Jubilee of World Education includes other events, such as the meeting of the Holy Father with Educators (Friday, October 31, 11:00 a.m. - St. Peter's Square) and the subsequent private passage through the Holy Door. The closing Eucharist of the Jubilee of World Education will be celebrated by Pope Leo on Saturday, November 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the square before St. Peter's Basilica. Tickets to the Square will not be required for these two events, and it will be open to all pilgrims.
