Last August 28, Professor Michelina Tenace set out for the house of the Father. Born in San Marco in Lamis (FG) in 1954, she studied philosophy in Paris and graduated in foreign literature from La Sapienza University in Rome.

In 1991, she earned a Doctorate in Fundamental Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University with a thesis on Vladimir Solovyov, supervised by Father Tomáš Špidlík SJ and Father Rino Fisichella. Since 1992, she has been an Adjunct Professor at the Gregorian; from 1993 to 1999, she also taught at the Pontifical Oriental Institute. Associate Professor at the Faculty of Theology in 2006, she became Associate Professor in 2009 and Full Professor in 2015.

In 2012, she was appointed Director of the Department of Fundamental Theology at the Faculty of Theology, a position she held until 2018. During this period, she edited the collective volume, "Dal chiodo alla chiave. La teologia fondamentale di papa Francesco" (LEV 2017). Since 2018, she has been a consultant to the then Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. She also played a key role in the launch of the Licentiate in Comparative Theology of Christian Traditions - Ecumenical Studies at the Faculty of Theology, which was launched in the 2022-2023 academic year.

After receiving the title of Emeritus, he participated in a final public event at the Gregorian on June 6, 2024. "The Gregorian remains in my heart," he wrote to us on that occasion, "and I will not forget the people with whom I shared a beautiful mission of witnessing to the faith and of communion in mutual respect."
