On Thursday, 6 February 2025, at the infirmary of the Aloisianum residence in Gallarate, Father Sergio Bastianel S.J. passed away.
Born in Pieve di Soligo, in the province of Treviso, on 28 July 1944, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1965 and was ordained a priest on 28 June 1972. In 1981 he began teaching as Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, in 1987 he was appointed Extraordinary Professor and in 1993, Ordinary Professor. Dean of the Faculty of Theology from 1997 to 2003, he was Academic Vice Rector of the University from 2004 to 2010, when he was appointed Professor Emeritus.
The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday 8 February, at 2pm, at the Antonianum Centre in Padua.
