On 21 May 2026, the ceremony for the presentation of the Henri de Lubac Award took place. The prize is awarded to a doctoral thesis written in French and to a doctoral thesis written in another language, both defended at one of the Pontifical Universities of Rome. The ceremony was attended by the President of the jury, Cardinal Jean-Marc Aveline, and the entire judging panel.
The jury wished to award a special mention to Rev. Matteo Nistri (Faculty of Theology – Pontifical Gregorian University) for his doctoral thesis «Fiat pax consuetudinis bonae». L’abitudine in Agostino, supervised by Prof. Joseph Carola S.J.
The Henri de Lubac Award, organised by the French Embassy to the Holy See and the Institut français - Centre Saint-Louis (IFCSL), aims to promote academic excellence in theses that stand out for their originality and their contribution to theological, legal and philosophical reflection.
