On April 30, 2026, the Rector’s Council approved the Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence at the Pontifical Gregorian University.
“Artificial intelligence (AI) is now an established part of our world in increasingly complex and pervasive ways,” the preamble states. “It is our responsibility to address it directly and understand its opportunities and risks.”
The document, intended for the community of the Pontifical Gregorian University, outlines the role of AI in relation to the Church and offers guidelines for the integration and management of AI within the University. The appendices include some concrete examples for Students, Teaching staff, and Administrative staff.
