On August 15, 2025, Fr. Peter Dubovský, S.J., President of the Mission of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, was appointed President of the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament (IOSOT). At the same time, Benedetta Rossi, Professor of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, was appointed Secretary of the IOSOT. The office of President was previously held by Bernd U. Schipper, a Professor at Humboldt University in Berlin.

 

IOSOT is a scientific organization of Old Testament specialists. It was founded in 1950 in Leiden, the Netherlands. IOSOT congresses are held every three years. The 25th congress took place in Berlin from August 11 to 15, 2025, and the next one will occur in Rome in 2028.
