5 Diplomas on the ancient traditions of the Christian East

The mission of the Pontifical Oriental Institute offers five Diplomas to explore the cultural and spiritual roots of the most ancient Christian traditions of the East. Through an interdisciplinary path, the programmes explore the theology, rich literary tradition, liturgy, history and palaeography of each of these traditions.

The Diplomas are aimed at those who hold a Baccalaureate or a Licentiate and wish to enrich their academic training. They are also open to scholars and enthusiasts who wish to explore these extraordinary cultural and spiritual heritages.

Each Diploma is structured in 6 semesters, within which the candidate will have to complete the attendance and examination for 12 thematic courses, chosen from theology, liturgy, history, language and palaeography. The candidate will also be required to write a concluding paper under the guidance of a specialised lecturer.

For the teaching languages, please refer to the individual programmes.
